In this unusual cross-dressing comedy (is this becomming a trend?) Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes are the reigning Drag Queens of New York, and John Leguizamo is their protege in training. The trio take an old Cadillac cross-country in a journey to Hollywood, when, surprise surprise, the car breaks down in the very rural Snydersville. The three drag queens then bring their enlightened wisdom upon the masses. The fact that anyone would truly confuse the queens with women for mere moments, much less days, stretches credulity. The characterizations never get very deep, especially for Snipes’ character. There are, however, several good laughs in this picture… Most derive from the time-honored spectacle of men wearing women’s clothing, though Chris Penn deserves mention as the slow-witted bigot of a country sheriff.
